The COVID-19 outbreak has changed the way we interact with our world. As always, it is our top priority to keep our participants safe and healthy. We also know that this is an especially tough time for caregivers and participants alike, as basic care, respite, and general day to day activities have been put on hold for the last two months. We know some may be itching to get out and about, while others may feel more comfortable remaining at home.
Our goal has always been to improve the quality of life for older adults – social interaction and connection with nature and our communities is a huge part of a balanced and positive life. After careful consideration, we have decided to continue offering Evergreen Experience Programming for Summer 2020, but those programs will look slightly different.
Programming will continue to be held outdoors, but will be set up in a rotation of ‘stations’ – each activity (craft, animal interaction, garden activity) will be offered on a one on one basis with staff and participant. There will be only one participant/family member allowed at each station at a time. We will spend ~20 minutes at each station. This will respect social distancing requirements and still allow for participation in group programming.
Minimum 6ft distancing will be followed, and masks are required for staff, participants and family members who choose to participate. Each station will be throughly sanitized between each rotation. Please also keep in mind that our process may evolve as we learn more about the virus and better ways to keep our participants and staff safe. Activity set up is subject to change.
Older adults are most vulnerable to this virus, and we want to do all we can to protect our participants and their families from infection, while still feeling connected to nature, our communities, and most importantly each other. Please feel free to reach out with additional questions.
